Engineer, Baker, Presenter

About Me Bio image.jpg

Andrew is an aerospace engineer, baker and presenter. As a finalist on the BAFTA-nominated Great British Bake Off in 2016, he grew a firm following for his Northern Irish charm and outrageously engineered creations including a gingerbread bridge and rotating geared pies.

Since leaving the tent, Andrew divides his time between researching Future Aircraft at Rolls-Royce and presenting his creation - the art of “bakineering", exploring incredible engineering through edible means. He’s written, produced and performed live “bakineering” shows around the UK & Ireland with partners including the Royal Institution, Cheltenham Science Festival and the European Space Agency.

As a presenter, Andrew has worked across multiple disciplines live on stage, on TV and online. He is the Creator, Executive Producer and Judge on Netflix's "Baking Impossible", released in October 2021. Other highlights include presenting a live cooking segment on ITV’s Lorraine, appearing as an expert contributor on shows for Discovery Science (Secrets of the Superfactories), the BBC (Christmas Kitchen) & History Channel (History Erased) and presenting at the largest TEDx in Europe at TEDxManchester.

Andrew has developed recipes and baking content for major international organisations on media campaigns. Clients include Warner Brothers (Fantastic Beasts film launch), Sainsbury’s, LIDL and the British Council (Youtube Series on the Bakineering Of Space). He even baked a rotating jet engine cake for Prince William, receiving national media coverage.

In his spare time, as a self-confessed jack of all trades, Andrew loves to sing, travel and ski. As a passionate STEM ambassador, he delivers talks in schools & universities and has been a judge for the UK Young Engineer Of The Year awards.
